Had an excess of cucumbers from my garden, so I finally tried out putting blanched cucumbers into the tank this week. Unlike the Shrimp Lollis, the fish are completely uninterested in them, leaving them for the shrimp (and snails) to enjoy. Which they seem to be, in fact, I think I heard some of the shrimp singing this song.

As far as my Planaria war goes, I have continued trapping and manually catching them. Not much to report, I can go days without seeing them now, tho I know they are still there. Will be continuing to set traps every other day or so and catching them with a baster when I observe them at night.

I made some changes to the tank this week:

  • I removed the airstone in the center of the tank. This was unnecessary to begin with, I mostly wanted to see how it effected the java moss in that area. It did keep it from growing excessively, a little too well and I am now trying get more of it to grow back.
  • I have turned off the second light on the left side of the tank. The rotella forest is getting covered in algae and excess light is most likely responsible.
  • I attached the new filter to air this week. I will probably let it run with air for a few weeks and then switch it with the old filter. I'm waiting for some baby shrimps to be born before I mess too much with things.

There are still a ton of berried shrimp in the tank. It's unclear if any have hatched eggs yet. Very excited about future new shrimp.
